Local Plan Publication Version consultation in Fylde

Tuesday, 20 September 2016 12:57

Branch submits comments.

The Branch with support from its Fylde District Group submitted comments on the latest Fylde Publication Version of the Local Plan. Many comments CPRE had made at the earlier stage had been positively received by the Planning Policy Team, and significant progress that has been made, but there are still areas for improvement.

The jobs and housing figures seem based on overly ambitious growth targets and we are campaigning for a more realistic quantum of development to be included in the Local Plan. We also seek an explicit policy for the rural economy to better protect and enhance the countryside of Fylde as new development is planned.

What is certain is that a Local Plan must be adopted without delay, to identify where is sustainable to build and where is not. The Council must demonstrate a five year housing land supply to stop the harmful speculative type of housing schemes that are leading to the loss of high grade farmland and wildlife habitat.

The Branch has requested to make representations at the oral part of the examination hearing.
